Turner Freeman Lawyers Queensland’s No Win No Fee policy is geared towards you, not us

With Turner Freeman, you will never be out of pocket. If you don’t win, you pay nothing. If you do win, our costs (or such of them remaining after any costs contribution received from the insurer) will come out of the claim. And when you win, whatever compensation you receive, you will get most of it.

Under Queensland Law, law firms are allowed to take up to 50% of your claim in professional fees. We believe this is unnecessarily high, so we limit ourselves to 30%. However, we do not even accept 30% in a large number of claims. In a recent case, our incurred cost was less than 3% of the overall claim amount, but as that was what we actually incurred, that was all we charged.

In this regard the 30% limit only acts to restrict our costs where the compensation recovered is relatively small. We cannot and will not increase our costs to the 30% limit just because a large amount of compensation is recovered.

Once you have accepted our proposal and costs agreement, we will bill you under two categories: Professional time (the time spent doing actual legal work), and Expenses incurred (doctors’ reports, barristers’ fees, filing fees, etc.). These costs are only paid once we resolve your claim.
